Out of curiosity, why the 4.56s? Lift and tires?
Live in Alaska. Its off road as much as on road. Its 200 miles to go grocery/general shopping. In the winter, we get alot of wind here in Delta Junction. Get huge drifts on the highways, deep snow. Summer time its offroad. Live right next to the granite mountain pass. Lots of big rocks, swamps. For the gears, we have steep grades on trails and highways. Usually pulling a trailer with snowmachines or fourwheelers.

your first pattern was not in the center both heel / toe (drive and coast

depends how far off,I know the pinion for motive gear comes stamped with a pinion depth to check with a pinion depth tool, they are expensive and not worth it unless you want to do a lot of them and sometimes might still need adjustment after fact. I know the pinion head comes with a +-.002 thousands of variance from distance marked on the head. What was your factory pinion shim depth, I always start there and its usually pretty close most of the time, For me its usually always too shallow by a few thousands, but its a good starting point.
pattern is too deep on pull/coast, would need to be in the middle of tooth. As a rule of thumb, using the original pinion shim (factory OEM) is ideal depth. I have not noticed you mentioned using a NEW crush sleeve. Myself, i've tried reusing them with no luck. That PRELOAD is so critical. you may be hearing some bearing noise, btw 456 gears are not going to be silent.
It's not rocket science, just consider all elements, it's hard work but worth it. It's been long ago but you never forget, memory lives on. Good luck, best to yah.

Final pattern. .04 pinion depth shim. Backlash .06. Overall preload 18 inch lbs. Its the best i could get with the shims i have. Had to tap in carrier shims. Now all berings have about 30 miles on them. So went with slighty above used berings preloads.

Tighten preload up to 30 inch lbs total for pinion and carrier together.
