@ChemEng when I picked up mine, my dealer gave me a letter to sign acknowledging that they will install the heated steering wheel once it's available. So yes they will / should install them free for you, too, since it's GM controlled not dealer by dealer.
I will ask for that letter.

Actually when I placed my order it said "no heated steering available" so I just assumed i would never get that feature. At least now I might some day get it...

Does anyone know what is involved in "installing a chip" later? I have never cracked open a module before, but i assume there arent plug and play chip sockets. Do they have some way of soldering or do they replace the whole board? I assume there are multiple functions per module so wont this just waste more "chips"?

I just can't picture how this process works....

My dealer doesn’t tell me anything but I’ve found out through GM I have a TPW of 3/28 lol. It’s weird. The person I spoke to at GM actually said it’s frustrating that people tell them their dealer isn’t giving them info because a lot of people end up cancelling their orders when GM has accepted it. But I guess the dealers don’t care because I haven’t heard of a single one having a hard time selling these before they come in.
G.M. was kind enough to put me on a list. I get an automated update on my production status once a week. I've been at 1100 for more than 4 months. They tell me because I want the Premiere equipped with the Premium package...they just aren't producing them. There are some Tahoe's being produced, just not the one that I wanted. I might have stuck it out if my dealership had been willing to tell me how many allocations they are receiving and how many were ahead of me...but they just won't. I complained to G.M. about this many times, they just keep telling me that my dealer is the best source of information...not! I simply can't understand why they would not be willing to share the most basic information, even if it drives customers away. I guess these days there are more customers than new vehicles.

@ChemEng you'll get an entirety new steering wheel, to replace your current one. Supposedly the missing chips are inside it.

No idea how they are going to do the front /rear park assist. Not entirely sure it's worthwhile, to be honest. But that's just my 2c, and my 22 Z71 includes it.

The same heated steering wheel and park assist are installed as previous models but the control module is missing, once the modules become available the dealer will plug them into the harness controlling that feature.

So, i called Chevy for my weekly check-in and they told me it is on the train in Virginia...

interesting that it went from texas to virginia, but will then need to go south to North Carolina.

Does anyone have an east-coast rail map for GM transport? Would be interested to see how the transport works.

So after ZERO communication for 3 months my sales person calls me yesterday and says I need to come in immediately to "fill out paperwork" because the tahoe will be delivered any day now.

I told them I would just do the paperwork when it comes in and they told me that the $1000 non refundable deposit I put down does not reserve the car and that once it is delivered they would sell it to the first guy who walks in.

Then to top it off they add $700 of "mandatory dealer accessories" in the finance office (floor mats, tint and nitrogen... super overpriced and none of which I want). This is after telling me that they didn't charge a market adjustment or have mandatory accessory packages. I told him that my previous sales guy told me differently and he shrugged and basically said take it or leave it.

Then after I sign they tell me to expect up to 4 weeks for it to be delivered. A$$holes.

Ordering this tahoe has been a miserable experience all around.

That’s ridiculous. Was this the salesperson who told you all of this or was there any manager involved? I really don’t know how the car dealer business works but maybe this guy was trying to make an official sale before the end of the month?

And just to clarify - you paid for the car (not sure if you paid cash or used financing) before you can even see it in person? That seems to be not very ideal

I have been through 3 sales people since this started. So the original guy is long gone. I pulled out the signed build sheet but they said that did not include "other fees".

I think they have to start paying some kind of depreciation or fees on the car until I buy it, so obviously they want to pawn that cost off on me. I went with this dealer because they didn't have a market adjustment and they have the highest throughput and therefore the most allocations. And yes I paid for it without seeing it. They threatened that not paying for it now would mean I was passing on it and they would sell it to the next guy.

That is super shady.... Contact the BBB and maybe your state to see if that's even legal. I wouldn't be surprised if your warranty starts when you sign vs when you take delivery. Same with Onstar and sat radio offers.
