So after ZERO communication for 3 months my sales person calls me yesterday and says I need to come in immediately to "fill out paperwork" because the tahoe will be delivered any day now.

I told them I would just do the paperwork when it comes in and they told me that the $1000 non refundable deposit I put down does not reserve the car and that once it is delivered they would sell it to the first guy who walks in.

Then to top it off they add $700 of "mandatory dealer accessories" in the finance office (floor mats, tint and nitrogen... super overpriced and none of which I want). This is after telling me that they didn't charge a market adjustment or have mandatory accessory packages. I told him that my previous sales guy told me differently and he shrugged and basically said take it or leave it.

Then after I sign they tell me to expect up to 4 weeks for it to be delivered. A$$holes.

Ordering this tahoe has been a miserable experience all around.
Well, you have options. If you truly did all the paperwork, and are the legit owner of the truck now (which, BTW, is not possible, because the dealer has to complete the Pre Delivery Inspection and certify to GM they did it before they can sell it to you), you will get a survey from GM, and you can rate the dealer really low on it. This hurts the dealer more than anything else…as it affects how many allocations they get in the future. You can possibly use this knowledge to negotiate with the dealer back to where they promised you. You can also suggest you will file some reviews with things like yelp, dealer rater, etc, outlining your experience. They gave you the bait and switch. And, at least in my state, it is illegal to add mandatory accessories…sounds like maybe a phone call to the dealership general manager is warranted. Maybe just speak with him/her and convey your experience. Be nice, factual, and assertive…but always remain courteous, and just explain your expectations.

Furthermore, how can you possibly own this vehicle when the Manufacturers Statement of Origin is in the truck on the rail car. They can’t transfer title to you until that thing is in their hot hands….

This is great advice.

So I will ensure
1. Warrenty and "free trials" etc begin when the keys are handed over.
2. I will write truthful negative reviews on the applicable sites and dealer survey.
3. Talk to the dealership Gen manager to "verify" all the "policies" they forced me into.

If the vehicle is delivered next week with no damage as expected then I will be relatively happy. I secured a 2.49% interest rate and I was worried it would go up more next week due to the fed hike, so on the up side I locked that in. I just need that 3rd row so I can safely (and legally) pick all 3 of my kids up from school in car seats.

If this delivery drags out for weeks or the vehicle has transport damage then I am in a pickle.

Do you actually “Own” it now? Like you have a bill of sale and it is securing a loan already?

Question: who holds the insurance on it at this instant? Seems like it’s a bit risky if you now own it…which, like I said really isn’t possible, since the MSO needed to transfer title to you is on the train with the truck.

I’d venture a guess the lender would be none too happy knowing how this dealer did this deal…since you promised a lien on something you don’t legally own yet…

Technically warranty begins when the vehicle is reported sold by the dealer, or put in service as a demo.

I can scan and redact the contract if it helps, but I signed an "irriversable" purchase contract. It has the vin number etc... on it. I secured a loan with a bank through the dealer and have my first payment due on the 9th.

I dont believe i have a bill of sale but had to sign a "power of attorney" for them to transfer the title on my behalf. I am out now but when I get home I'll make a list of the documents.

I asked them about insurance and they said their insurance will cover it until I get the keys.

With my luck the transport guy will run over a little old lady and I will be on the hood for manslaughter.

You don’t need to send me any docs, sounds like you signed a binding purchase agreement…but I’m still not sure how the lender would issue the funds without the security on the loan, but I guess as long as you pay them, they aren’t gonna care.

Still feel like this dealer did a pretty shady deal. I’d definitely have a convo w/ the General Manager about how it left you feeling about the transaction….

Just found this on Google reviews. Apparently talking with the GM won't help:

Check out this review of Sir Walter Chevrolet Company on Google Maps
