a heated steering wheel is way more than $25... this is not a credit it is a "gesture" that allows them to attach this legal clause.

The steering wheel your car will arrive with will have the functionality to become heated. All it needs is a a chip that they’ll install later on. These chips really aren’t all that expensive. These new cars have hundreds of microchips in them that do so many things.

It’s not like they’re giving you a brand new steering wheel, that now has the ability to be heated, Because the one your car arrived with can’t be heated.

That $25 is probably the cost of the chip to them.

Also - didn’t your first original post in this thread state this was going to happen to you? Why are you now suprised?

There is no signature block for the dealer or GM. There is just a signature block for the buyer. The dealer is not committing to anything on this form, the only thing signing this does is waive my legal rights.

No one will be able to sue because this waives your rights to legal action.

I’m not trying to sound like a d-bag….but you have bigger fish to fry than worrying about whether your dealer or GM will not honoring this retrofit…..you legit bought a car and have financing in place for a car that’s not even in your possession or the dealerships.

That would worry me more than anything

Not at all surprised about the missing chips, just surprised by the mandatory waiver.

I am not actually worried that much about that.

After thinking about it I know the car exists and that it is about 90 miles away. I have the window sticker and (other than the missing chips) it has all the things I wanted.

Just need a truck to drag it to the dealer.

I’m not saying the car you ordered is never going to be delivered. But there are some occasions, albeit not often, where something is not “perfect” with a brand new car when you go to pick it up. There could be a paint defect, there can be dings/dents, scratches, etc either in the exterior or interior. There’s a whole list of things that can go wrong where it’s not perfect. You’re technically supposed to do your own inspection of the car before you sign. And the dealer obviously should be doing an inspection when it comes to there lot before you even see it.

In your scenario, the dealer doesn’t have to fix anything for you on the arm if there are any issues. Based on how shady they are, they can tell you they can fix it but they have to charge you to fix it. It doesn’t seem like they care about doing good by the customer and their reputation,
Based on everything you told us.

And you can’t say well I won’t buy the car unless it’s fixed, because your already contractually bought the car. Your financing is already set up. You’ll be paying for the car as it is, whether you like it or not.

That’s what I meant with, you shouldn’t worry about whether GM or the dealer will honor a retrofit for missing features months from now. You should worry that your car is delivered in perfect condition. Once it is, I’d suggest you to never go back to the dealer for anything service related , other than the retrofit.

Hopefully you have no issues.

If anything, this opens them up to some serious lawsuits for not making a customer acknowledge a disclosure that a standard feature in their car is missing.

If your car salesmen or dealer does not tell you this, GM has no way of knowing this. They have to cover their own behind. And the fact they state they’ll retrofit it at no cost, is something again they’ll be sued for by the masses if they do not honor it.

I highly doubt they’ll want to do wrong by so many people, because why would anyone buy another car from them again? These are people spending 60-80k on a car. They’d be foolish to piss of that segment of the market, which they own now but are abut to get a whole lot of competition with soon

There is a small chance your new vehicle could show up with some damage, so many more are shipped across the country with zero damage from shipping companies. Sometimes the factory will let flaws go out the door since they are trying to build them quick as possible. I wouldn't worry, your truck will show up just fine.

Bro - someone literally told you on Saturday in this thread that you’ll get a survey from GM shortly because the dealer already had you complete all of the paperwork lol.

And you even acknowledged their recommendation that it wouldn’t be a good idea to rate them poorly because you think they’ll screw up your car when they put notes in the service department.

GM’s survey is likely automated to be sent a specific time from after when the dealer submits whatever it is on their end to complete the purchase in their system.

I highly doubt a dealer is going to destroy your car because of your survey score. I’d be honest and let GM know what happened. I’m sure they’re going to be pissed off at what this dealer is doing. Not everyone will cave to the pressure, and this can turn off people from wanting to buy their brand cars. I’ve walked away from buying and leasing nice cars solely based on my experience at a dealership and went to a different manufacturer. I’m sure many people do the same.

I’m still in the mindset that making GM aware of this experience will only Help you and not hurt you - god forbid you do have issue with your car. And I’d never use this dealers service department if I were you after you get the car.

I gave the dealer that I bought my Yukon from good remarks on that survey but I slammed the finance dept. there, I told him what credit union I used and instead he gets me a 4.75% rate through some bank they use. 2 days later I refinanced with my credit union for 2.2%. I'm sure there's some kickback somewhere.
