Pacesetters meh, the ones I've seen were probably some of the worst quality built headers I've seen but, for the money they get the job done. A little clean up and they are good to go.

As far as I know with a cam swap you will have to swap to Gen III lifters.
While you're in there you might as well do a complete valve train swap to.
Read that link I posted for a little insight on it, its very informative.

I was going to say what livingez said, you will not have to pull your motor to do the cam swap.

I am fond of Magnaflow high flow spun cats but they seem to be jumping in price. These are popular for budget builds, they get decent reviews. http://performance-curve.com/thunderbolt-spincat.aspx

Don't let it intimidate you, its all just nuts and bolts. LS based motor are super easy to work on.
Read up as much as you can and grab yourself a Haynes or Chilton manual.
Check YouTube to, you'll be surprised what people take videos of, hah. That really has nothing to with this, its just crazy what people video tape, hah.

lemme backpedal some
ive heard it can be done both ways ive only done it with the motor out on an engine stand wich raises another question when i do this myself id rather keep the motor in the truck is it any more difficult to just leave the motor in im assuming i have to take out the grill and the radiator

Those headers will do fine for your needs. Just find a Y-Pipe with cats. Or buy the cats and have a custom Y-Pipe made. Only thing you might want to do living in PA is have the headers and y-pipe ceramic coated (costs $180 here where I live). You can do the cam swap and everything with the motor in. Only will have to take the radiator out (very easy). Contact comp cams and ask them what they recomend for your truck and what your goals are.

If only you were closer to me I would gladly take a weekend and show you how to do this.

Once the fan, shroud, and radiator are out of the way just measure to see if you the room. If not, then the ac condenser needs to be moved to the side. it can be done without draining the ac system. it is easier to pull the grill and the hood latch support. it gives you more room to roam. It just depends on you and how much room you really need. Once the heads are off to get to the lifters, you might be able to drop the headers down from the top and save yourself some crawling around.

I also don't mind giving instruction and pointing out helpful tips. I wish I could do more these days, but with 4 back surgeries behind me, working on my own truck takes a lot more time then it use to. now it's sit back and watch and have some sweet tea.
