Sooo.....I talked to my mechanic and I think its gonna be more money than I want to spend on long tubes and cats. The price of custom y-pipe is whats gonna hurt. And not worth it imo for and extra 10-15 hp. Yes, I think they would be better, but I just cant fork out the extra dough for the y-pipe and extensions on the o2 sensors.
Soo shorties it is I am ok with it for now and understand why he said what he did. Its not like this is going to be a drag car, this has to have emissions and cats and it is my daily for now and for a few years longer.
So what do you guys think about ****** headers. He said they were pretty good from previous experiences. I read in another thread about doug thorleys as well. Thoughts on shorties from them?

I have to have cats as this is my daily and are required.
Is getting an extra 10 hp really worth it either? I have to buy high flow cats and fit them somewhere with the y pipe. After he put it on the lift we looked at it and there was space, but mainly on the passenger side. I would also have to extend the o2 sensor wires to reach as well. It just seems like to much for me to try and tackle myself. I am waaay to new to this already and electrical is one thing i wont touch.
I may sound like a sissy, I just dont have that kind of funds to invest. I can always do it later on when this becomes my weekend car.
Don't be upset about shorties. It's still an improvement over stock manifolds regardless of what anyone says.
****** and Thorleys are great. I had Thorleys on my 2dr, great headers. Fit and finish were spot on and they came with everything needed for the install.
Thorleys might even be a mid length header. Great thing about them also was they fit without any modifications to my exhaust. Literally a bolt in job with one spot of welding.
Check this out, may work http://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...agnaflow-15792-kit-what-hp-can-handle-524344/ I have inquired about it for our trucks.
Most inspections stations require you to have all emissions in the factory location on newer vehicles. Here (NC), anything from 96 and earlier is exempt from this. So, removing both cats and moving its location with only one will more than likely fail. When I did my exhaust on my 2dr, I replaced everything but, had everything in its factory location. Got a bunch of compliments, hah, but it passed both visual and the sniffer.
In all honesty, no its not worth it. 10hp is so minimal and you'll barely feel it you feel it all.
I'm with you, not a fan of electrical work at all. I'll farm that out any day, hah.
Thanks man, I appreciate the honesty ( not that everyone else was dishonest) I sent jenna from blackbear a pm since they deal with doug thorleys. I just want a quality header. I will post up what she says and we can go from there. Thanks again everyone!
