Get the kitty litter ready!
Funny. We just got a cat! I can pull it full, I can try to pump it out from the fill hole, I can drill the drain plug or the case, since I'm replacing it, or I can set it on fire trying the propane torch. I do have a heat gun though. Or....I can crack the case loose and let it drain in place. Seems anyway I look at it it's ugly. I'm thinking my best bet to try to get out as much fluid as I can before I go tipping it.

IMO, the mess it may make is small compared to the end result you seek. If you pull it, no matter which way you do it and spill fluid, so what. Get in there and find the problem. Hell, in that pic, I can't even see a 6 point to hammer anything on. It looks flush to me but my eyesight is not what it used to be. I have used a sharp chisel to punch with a hammer and dig in to the plug and punch in the unloosen direction and worm it out that wat and heat is a good choice too. Either way, stop with the worry of spillage and :grd:. Get some bags of oil dry and go to town.

Well, THAT was fun. Reminded me of my younger days when I was young, dumb, and full of.....Energy! That's what it was! So I drilled the drain plug and managed to not drop the TC on my head. Used my floor jack with a square of particle board on it and my wife at the handle. Got it on the bench and opened up and really didn't find anything shocking at 1st impression! The only exception would be the inner bearing race and the bushing on the front shaft side. See pics. Also, started the vehicle and ran it through the gears with the TC out and it sounded smooth. So I'm uploading a video to YouTube and I'll post the link when it's done. But right now I'm kinda baffled.

Well all the parts are ordered, be here in about a week or less. When I was searching parts I discovered Transparts has a warehouse/distribution center in Sacramento about 35 miles from me. So I called and got quoted $715! Dude was quoting me full blown retail prices! I can buy a built Bulldog for $800 so no thanks. I ended up buying everything from Amazon and just the pump from Ebay. I'm all in for under $400. When I was pulling the TC I discovered the plastic 90⁰ vent valve was completely gone. Just a broken nipple hanging in the hose. Looks like it's been missing for a long time too. Lots of crude built up around the hole. Don't know if that contributed to anything. It's so clean inside.
