i asked a question like this a long time ago on another forum.

I am sitting here wishing my truck was faster then greased lightning. Now i realize if i want to go fast i should get a small car with lots of ponies. But lets keep this within the realm of the 6000lb SUV

If I wanted to run solid 12's in this truck, what would it take?

And could it go faster then that?

6.0, headers, intake, convertor, sticky tires, TVS or 250 shot of Nitrous.
I would stage the Nitrous to give a dynamic effect 100 to start another 150 past the 60 foot point.

To go faster you could up the 6.0 to a 408 or 421 LS, add some L-92 heads, Dana-60 rear end, 4L80 a must to make it live, and it should be good for 11's depending on when and where.

It just depends on your tolerance for low mpg's and high credit cards balances.

I would do full bolt-ons and some 4.11 gears with a good tune lowish 14's. Maybe add a TVS to the 4.8 or 5.3. You will have a low low 13 second truck that can get good MPG.

That way you can have a car or truck that gets bad MPG to have fun with

You can run 10s if you drop enough duckets. Blower+longtubes+trans is the easiest way to get 12s.

interesting, sounds like i need to save like 7 or 8k to get the blower, headers and tranny rebuild.

Grocery Getter - Arm is doing great, lowering job is a giant pain in the ass. Need to re-align the truck, and the rear shock relocators didn't fit so i had to take them back, working on a new set right now.

I'm in for some bull ******** and a calendar op...

I should be able to let you know for sure what will get you into the 12s when we take the Tahoe to the track :Handshake:.

But like everyone said:

cam, headers, blower should get you there, a transmission will keep you there (by not blowing up) and some juice will drop you even lower.

Yeah, the weather and Justin's trips have not been conducive to going to the track....

We wound up checking out the tranny when installing the Vette Servo to find the stock 1-2 was cracked. Replaced it with the Vette one and now she runs like a champ!! :Handshake: I do have a 2.75" pulley (currently running 2.9") that will probably go on once we go to the track. I am already running 10psi but will need to pin my crank pulley to get more boost with that 2.75". Should be interesting cause she already runs like a ***** ape!
