Trans and oil cooler lines connected ok?

My truck doesn't have the factory engine oil cooler, I purchased this radiator with the EOC in case I decide to add the factory EOC lines in the future. I have an external aftermarket EOC already so I'm in no hurry. I just left the caps in the EOC ports on the radiator to keep dirt out for now.

The transmission lines popped right into the quick disconnects beautifully without any issues or leaks though.

Also, I accidentally lied to you about my "K&N" filter... when I pulled it today to clean it I realized that it is actually a Spectre HPR8755.

The last pic was before cleaning and re-oiling.

Well, damn. I wonder if that's where the elevated silica level is from? Did you happen to check the inside of the intake tube for dirt?

This reminds me of the lawsuit K&N won against Spectre:

"...The federal court also addressed claims by Spectre regarding the independent laboratory testing of its Speed By Spectre hpR filters, which were advertised as having been "proven to filter 99.6% of particles." The court found that the company did not select an air filter from a production run for these tests, and instead used a specially designed test filter, providing no basis to find that any of the filters actually sold to consumers would have the same efficiency as the test sample."

Huh, never heard of that. You never cease to amaze me with your obscure knowledge... lol

I did wipe the inside of the intake tube and there was nothing to speak of to be seen on the white napkin I used.

This filter has been in since well before I started doing UOA and it has never been a problem before. I think it was just time to clean the filter. It was dirty, not as bad as some I have seen in the past but dirt did come out of it when it was cleaned.

Well the maiden voyage of the new radiator happened tonight.

On a 20 mile ride, running 55 - 60 mph without any real stop and go traffic with the A/C off (so the cooling fans were off) the temperature stayed at 172°- 174° as seen by the OBD2 data. Ambient temperature was 70°- 71° according to the mirror.

This is right at 20° cooler than what the truck has always ran in the past.

Now I need to figure out at what temperature it goes into Closed loop mode. As long as the truck is in closed loop mode I won't worry about it.

Obscure/useless- I know, I know. I wish I was capable of storing productive info. But, I guess, that's what the intellectuals of TYF are for so that's why I come here.

Then it must be filtering just fine. Looking forward to the next UOA. You make this sort of stuff captivating to the simple-minded ones.

Interesting, and good! Among other factors, closed loop operation requires the coolant to
be more than 122 degrees for more than 30 seconds.

BTW, I found a pic of the factory rad restriction orifice:

It's tiny! So, it obviously has a significant function.

I tried to take a picture of my original but never could get a good angle. I couldn't see that in mine.

You sound like me. When folks ask me what I know I tell them “I know a lot of stuff that doesn’t matter and not enough of the stuff that does matter.” Oh well, it gets me invited to be on a lot of trivia teams, so that’s something I guess.
