lowered on 28s ???

Hey guys it’s been a few months since I’ve been on this forum.. Just got my truck back this past weekend and looks like I’m going to end up keeping it ...

I was talking to another member last night (DUKES) and he was showing me pics of his old Yukon lowered on the 2/3-4 drop with 28s. Before seeing his I always thought going with 28s was just too big and not my style but now I’m really considering doing it now. I did some research on this forum and noticed not a lot of people are running this set up. wanted to ask your input on this for a daily driver??

The rims I found are 28 by 9.5 with a +25 offset. From what I’ve been reading looks like I should go with the a 28 by 9 with at least a +30 offset. But seeing it’s not too off I’m assuming this would be fine just would need to trim a little bit more ??

28s are HUGE and never going to be a "nice" ride for a DD. My Tahoe is the first vehicle I have put anything larger than a 20" wheel on and I'll just say I probably won't ever go larger than that. Maybe a set of 26s but definitely not a 28" wheel. I knew someone that had an '07 Esky with 28s and he got rid of them after a few months. AND his was not lowered.

Before my truck was stolen I had 26s and honestly can not say anything bad about the ride.. But who knows 26s to 28s might be night and day. idk maybe i should just take a chance

if you know how to drive on 26's and don't mind the ride, go for it

Lowered on 28's looks cool. Those are some serious rubberband tires, which could cause rim damage. So it depends how much you drive it and where you live. Do it

+30 is close to the correct offset, I doubt you can get a 28" with any less than a 10" width.

hey guys, i was just browsing the forum as i do occasionally and this post actually made me register and join.

G35kid, whats funny is i had a 2007 G35 coupe prior to my purchase of a 2012 yukon denali last year! i miss my G i had a twin turbo done on it and was getting around 485hp to the wheels, with that said i almost killed myself in it so i had to move on to my dream which was the denali i wanted since 2000.

Now, i personally have 24's on my denali. I to was unsure on going big, and what was exactly to big. I can honestly say that, with 24's the ride is a bit stiff compared to the stock 20's obviously but it aint to bad. i was catious being in NYC and our roads are terrible! 24x10 305 35 no rub, only slight rub in reverse with the wheel cut hard, and only because i added mud flaps, (got sick of the kick up), was bad with the factory wheels 20x9 but worse when i went to the 24x10.

Another thing is, recently my GF's cousin came up from texas, for a wake/funeral, he has a 2008 yukon, he had 28's on it, when i asked what the profile of the tire was he said "rubberband" with a down south accent that i almost pissed myself. my guess was it had to be a profile 20.

he regret putting them on, he said, the whole inside of his wells were all torn up, i mean it was nasty, the rub had to be insane.

looks are one thing it looked sick!

but the ride was crazy stiff i mean terrible, i drove it after he took me for a ride because i was curious.

I guess it all comes down to opinion, if its something you want to do, go for it, but i seriously doubt u will find 28's in any smaller width then 10 inches, his were 10", and to compensate for rub i dont think its possible, other then either cutting wells or adding spacers, because not even a profile will make up for the difference.

Nice man wish I was able to do that with my G when I first got it I was barely able to make payments on it lol so the only thing I ever got around to do was lower it rims and a few bolt ons… were you on g35driver? Would love to see pics…

With 28s I know for sure its not going to ride nearly the same as it does now but I had 26s previously and didn’t mind the ride… Sometimes you have to sacrifice for looks just like a lowered car, some drive ways were just impossible.. Like I said above I thought 28s were too big but the stance of it lowered just looks perfect IMO.. Look up DUKES a members Yukon on here he had the same set up im going to run

The rims im going to be getting are actually 28 by 9.5 and going to run a 275 series tire so hopefully rubbing wouldn’t be that big of a issue.. Thanks to DUKES and MrSnacks which I have been PMing and emailing back and forth.. should be done in 2 or 3 weeks pics coming soon

I have 28s with 295/25/28 on mine with approximately a 5/6 drop, of course it does not ride anywhere near stock or when I had 26's with a 2/3, but sure does look great. I can only do a little over a 3/4 turn on the steering wheel before I hit the frame
