nice job , mine is coming real soon , can't wait. any issues durining install ?
Thanks man and yeah there were a couple of issues and all trans related. First was the flexplate install and almost cross threading one of the bolt holes. My engine came with a 4l80 flexplate and I switched to a 4160 plate. I tried to use one of the 80 bolts to break up some of some of the thread locker/oil deep in the crank and it caused a bur in the threads since the bolts use a spacer and don't thread all the way to the top of the bolt.. the ARP bolts I used fit tight in that one hole and I almost stripped it but it worked out and torqued down fine after a nice scare..uploadfromtaptalk1450539197086.jpguploadfromtaptalk1450539230945.jpg

The next was the torque converter. If you swap it out make sure to measure the depth of the snout before you pull the stock one. I thought the cicle d had seated after it slid down twice, but after comparing the depth of the snout it wasn't deep enough so I had to pull it back out and then got the right plunge depth on the 2nd try. I read about guys breaking their trans pump by messing up this step.

Everything else was straight forward. I would recommend pulling and installing engine with the intake off. It frees up a lot of space and makes putting everything back together a lot easier.

Also, I went ahead and pinned the crank for future plans. Don't cheap out on whatever kit u use if u do this. I used an ARP crank bolt since it can be reused if I ever have to pull it, plus it looks cool lol..

Last use the right tools. Guessing and estimating wasn't going to work for me so I torqued everything to spec.

Hopefully this all helps the next guy. I had to do a lot of research to find all of this and put it together and I say it got the job done.

That's great. I will be taking some of your advice and apply it when I do my install. I was going to put the intake on before. But will be waiting now. My tranny came with the motor so I am good in that department. How do you like the new found power ?

It just has more grunt. Even with 3.42 gears it gets out the hole nice. I just push the gas and it just goes so much easier. It feels like a bigger motor and with the cam it just pulls. I can feel the torque management kick in after some shifts but it smooth. It cruises 80 with ease...no downshifts..should be better after I send a data log back to blackbear.

Just a fyi, I had a problem with my fuel pressure regulator dumping fuel in the intake. Bought a new delphi unit and it buzzed..switched to a BWD branded one and problem stopped. I would have already got the update from BBP if it hadn't been for this screwing up my last log.

that's awesome, What type of paint did you used for the block and how did you prep it? did you used clear coat and primer?

Second Do you have a part number for the Flexplate and flexplate bolts are you also on a 4L80?
