That's not mine, just a stolen internet pic. I painted the one on my built LQ9 and it turned out exactly like that one. It just takes lots of cleaning with a toothbrush to get all the crevices clean. Use many light coats (the first few will be "dust" coats) rather than 2-3 heavier coats. I used gloss black brake caliper paint.
Ever seen them paint a big diesel engine before they ship it out? Everything including the accessories, turbos, duct couplings and often even the water hoses are all sprayed. A lot of the paint on the rubber parts flakes off with time/use, though.
