At least with the 6.2l you don't fall thousands of feet out of the air, you just flame out in the fast lane and try to get to an exit or shoulder so you can avoid the cars and trucks flying by at 75 MPH!!

Not sure why the newer models do not have magnetic drain plugs, my 2005 Yukon Denali 6.0l had one.

So if you are considering getting a magnetic oil drain plug, the thread size is metric 12 x 1.75.

Cheaper and easier to find option is the Dorman 090-936CD. This is very similar to the OEM drain plug with a captive rubber washer that my 2005 6.0l engine has.

Available on Amazon - https://www.amazon.com/Dorman-Autog...ocphy=9009963&hvtargid=pla-880949244173&psc=1

If you want to step up to a more powerful magnet, consider the Votex drain plug:

Sorry. If it says Dorman on it I wont touch it. I've had too many failures from this company, and yes, even on simple items.

Agree some Dorman stuff is not so great, but the magnetic drain plug looks a lot like the OE one in my 6.0l.

AP-04 Gold Plug is the standard for me. I've been using them for years. I'll put one on my Yukon on it's next oil change, and I just put one on my 2024 Duramax as well. Washer pack is SW-01
