sure thing, I bought a broken 4L60E... I will build it up with 5 pinion planetaries, better clutches, shell, etc. Then swap it in once done. I have a separate post for thay. Was planning to do it before a 6.0 swap but blew my 5.3L... Not sure if will be a 4L65E spec... ot just a beafy 4L60 variant of my own. there is a guy builds them on youtube and will build one to order... I took notes from him... perforabuild? cannot recall exact name.

I have a Performabuilt in my 02 with a blower. They build the 4l60’s to handle up to 1000 hp. Check out their website at www.Performabuilt.com - they do some proprietary mods that aren’t available anywhere else and are now building their own servos that hold better than the Corvette ones. Their customer service is on par with Roger Vinci’s. Their transmissions are amazing.

I was looking at them. Their pricing isnt bad either. I just really want to build a transmission (not so much valve body though haha). I may call them to see if they source any parts or a kit. I like his carbon clutches but not sure where he gets them. Basically I want a 4L60E capable of sueviving the apocolypse

Some of these performa built transmissions are amazing. Only weak point after he is done appears to be the case.

Altho, a 4L80E would be badass super bad ass haha

Buy the Black Edition. They use the heavier cases, don’t remember which vehicles they came in. As of now, nobody’s been able to break a Black Edition- not a single failure and there’s lots of guys who race with them.

With your engine you will never get close to breaking a performance rebuilt 4l60.
With 5 pinions it becomes a 4l65.

And you would HATE a 4L80. The rotating mass is much heavier than a 4l60 and it will rob TQ and slow your Tahoe down.
I would run that with a turbo making 900hp, but under 600hp a 4L60 is fine.

Heat kills auto trans, so just keep it cool, under 200 always and it will run for a long time.
So big cooler, biggest you can plumb in there.

I've run these for 7 years in Tahoes, Escalades and Silverados
Cheapest transmission saver you can buy.
Series 9000 Plate & Fin : 17 Row Series 9000 Plate & Fin Transmission Cooler Kit (derale.com)
With this its always under 200, even going uphill in AZ when its 120 ambient.

And I run this
It only incrementally cools on the highway when the air blows through it.
But it works.
With this puppy, always under 180.
Cooling Pans : GM 700R4, 4L60 & 4L60E Transmission Cooling Pan (derale.com)

The AZ desert can kill your transmission....sometimes it hits 125-127.....
Its hard to stand outside in that.

Off track....
What I really long for is a 10L90 but they only may standalone controllers (BCMs) for F**king Jeeps....God I hate that.
But 1st gear is way lower like 4.7 compared to 4l60 which is 3.06

And the gears are much closer.
In the 4L60 1:1 is 3rd gear
In the 10L90 1:1 is 7th gear .....LMFAO so different.

WOW, that's crazy! I kind of like the simplicity of the 4L60E... Take that with a grain of salt, as I've not rebuilt any transmissions haha Although 4 gears, versus 6 or more in newer transmissions.

Well, latest curveball. This truck is good at throwing them. I got an easy out. It just rounded the head on the transmission pan drain bolt haha I hate to drop this and just have transmission fluid go EVERYWHERE. But maybe I just need to take the pan off and say the hell with it? Otherwise was thinking of trying to get a pump down the dipstick tube.

The factory started installing those bolts with a thread locker that will not submit to any amount of force or heat known to mankind. There was some reason they don’t want them to come out, I forget why. You can get a Dorman pan with drain plug for cheap at most auto parts stores and although I stay away from their crap in this case it was a good thing. GM doesn’t sell a pan with a drain plug.
