Yes, when you order it you submit your vin and they code the DVD with it. When you insert the DVD and it starts the install, it verifies the VIN locked to the radio before installing the updated maps.

I'm sure it's just info in a file coded on the DVD and could be hacked, if someone who's into programming is inclined to do it.... lol

Well after looking and looking for the 2012-2014 HU I found two. And bought one of them today and will probably buy the other one on the way home next week. Gonna upgrade the wifeys Tahoe AND my dirty Max.

FYI, the mini USB cord (at the back of the unit) for these hard drive units has a different shaped profile than the standard cord. Make sure you purchase the one specifically made/sold for this head unit.

When this hitch ends tues and I head home for my 7 days off Im gonna start the process of installing one of them in my wifes tahoe. Gotta send them off to get 'unvin' locked first. Ive found several places that can do that online. Yet to pick one tho...

Gotta mount the nav antenna then I can install the DashSkin then speed sensor wire, rear camera wire etc...

The Bose A2DP streaming module handles music streaming and integrates seamlessly into our trucks. The older version operates off 5V aka USB power source too. It allows your phone to pair up to the trucks oem BT & A2DP simultaneously. The Bose will pause the music and resume when a call comes in via BT. It’s quite a marvel for being almost a decade old and has no finicky issues pairing up.

I’ve had too many smash & grabs over high end audio equipment to go down that road again. As far as VIN locking, nothing is VIN locked on NNBS anymore with Vendors offering unlock services or inexpensive, cloned Tech II available.

Wait, the 12-14 NNBS Navi update DVD for HDD units is one time only VIN locked to the head unit?

This is the one I bought, to plug into radio with some stupid wire clip on the end to fit radio. On my 13 it goes under console to console box. It meets up to another cable/usb connection under cup holder and continues to white usb ‘outlet‘ in console box.
I have this which is factory set up..

but you can use anything like this
