Pull the subs out, place them in the new enclosure, mark holes for subs, pull subs out, pre drill holes, drill in terminals, vacuum and wipe down enclosure, final mount ports , get it in the Tahoe, install back three subs, push enclosure back, install front 3 subs, screw enclosure down, and then connect wiring. 4E758ED0-22E2-4862-8516-DB24E91B4F77.jpeg

but it’s finally done. Played it a little and it sounds a lot better, subs are happier, all around cleaner sound.

put my spl meter in there and tested at my old frequency peak of 44hz.......154.82 :mad::mad:

pretty upset at this point, clean up the shop and head home. I’m really happy it bothered me enough to test a little more when I got home. New enclosure means peak can change so I tested for a new peak. For some reason my peak dropped from 44hz to 36hz. Not that it’s a bad thing but very surprising it did that. So test at 36hz and boom 155.07. FINALLY! I’m stoked :)

So what's the difference between the old and new enclosures? Size/tuning?

so the old one was about a cubic foot to big(10cu ft) it Was only 1 sheet of 3/4 birch on the bottom sides and back, the front was double and the top was triple thick. I was having problems with the subs moving to much and I tried to shrink and stuff to get it to be louder but nothing was really working. It wasn’t built right from the get go.

the new enclosure is double wall all the way around with a triple thick top. It is right at 9cu ft internally(1.5 cu ft per sub) which is recommended spec for these dc xl12’s.

I still have a lot of testing to do with this so hopefully I can find more gains

Whew! Good thing. I’m sure people on the internetz were calling that last bone crushing setup weak..

After bitching to my lady and everyone else for months and months that I have to set my e brake everytime I park to disable the auto headlights, I finally got a resistor to put in and fix that. Tinted windshield made them come on more than they should have and trying to not shorten the life of my hid ballasts.

Just takes unplugging the purple plug under the steering column

finding a4(grey) and a6(White) wires. Those are what go up to the sensor below the windshield.

Cut them with enough length to work with. connect the resistor (1.5k 1/2 watt)on each wire to make a loop and boom done. I soldered and used heat shrink for them. taped the harness back up and she good to go.

New switchbacks came in. Still unhappy with how bright they are but at least they are more of a 5000k white unlike My last ones so they do match the headlights and fogs a little better. Happy about that at least. These are the type 2 so when you hit the turn signal it flashes amber-white-amber-white.
My jdm A Star ones were type 1 so they would go to amber-amber-amber for turn signal then back to white once the signal was off.
We shall see how long these last though.

I know its late but my back started hurting just reading about what you did with that big ass box and all those subs haha. trucks lookin nice though!
Yeah my back was hating me with the enclosure swap I’ll tell you that much lol just happy it’s done and I never want to do it again haha
