Glad to know ya Vincent. Have you acquired the motor and trans already? What steered you to take this route and not say a Gen IV and or supercharger upgrade to your 5.3?
A couple of weeks ago i got smoked by a Nissan titan pick-up. What really set me off was the guy stuck his hand out of the window waving bye. The 5.3 in the Tahoe can't get out of its own way at times. Needless to say i was PISSED. Called my mechanic and we started this adventure, probably will get the turn key project from Chevy performance down in Daytona.

kind of baffled too... what gen5 engine are you looking for? that you think will be a better choice then a 6.2/6l80 with a few mods? cause stock for stock the gen 5 isnt going to be that much faster. the additional money youll spend for the gen 5 and making it work could go a long way on a gen 4. everything will be a bolt in deal as it came made for it

Welcome aboard Vincent.

I agree with Randy.

Man, you could have a nasty 6.2 built for that. Boosted too :)

The LT1 is a 450 HP car engine. Not sure how it will perform in a truck twice the weight of the cars it was designed for. A new Titan makes 390 horsepower. One from 2010 made 317 horsepower. A tune and mods of course can dust a stock 5.3 in a Tahoe. But a supercharger added to a stock 5.3 and that Titan will quickly fade in your rearview mirrors, even a modified one. An LMG with a TVS1900 is also rated for 450 horsepower.

I'm wondering

I'm in agreement but maybe build a gen 4 6.2 with a 6l80 and put a 2.6 l blower on it. You could build the engine with a truck cam and whatever other goodies you want and have a 600 HP monster that would leave everybody in the dust for less than the LT1/ 8 speed setup. Plus it would be easier.

i'll run this idea through my mechanic and get his take. the whole problem in my mind with blower feature is the constant upkeep and possible additional maintenance.

But for making power I'd rather mild engine with a blower as opposed to huge cam, noisy valve train, stall, headers etc to come close.

and thats coming from someone with cam/stall/headers :Big Laugh:

If AFM wasnt an issue i would have thrown a supercharger on in a heartbeat. As far as cams go mine isn't all the wild at all, but stall and headers helps out pushing around so much weight.

also if youre down for turnkey from GMPP, a LSA turnkey is only like 12k 600hp/tq 2 year warranty
