Greetings!

I'm considering the purchase of an 05 Yukon XL Denali with 146,000 miles. It will be a third vehicle for us, and likely will only see about 5k a year in mileage.

I plan to have a GM dealership service department go over the vehicle, but I'm concerned with the mileage, and have a few questions:

-Assuming proper maintenance, what kind of reasonable life expectancy can be we assume for the engine and transmission?

-What is the typical cost of transmission replacement on this vehicle?

-What kind a maintenance issues are common with this model and mileage?

Many thanks in advance for your time and expertise in responding.

Here some answers for you simply based on my opinions/experience:

My '04 YUKON has 143k on the clock and runs like a champ.

In my opinion, with proper maintenance these engines should go easily above 200k PLUS miles.

Can not help you with the cost of transmission replacement, as I am still running the original tranny with no issues.

I would say that common issues on our trucks are water pump and fuel pump, I read a lot about the auto ride compressors (which the DENALI has) failing.

I am sure others will chime in as well, but this is what I can offer. Other than belts and the oil cooler lines leaking, I had no troubles with mine so far and it has been a great truck.

Good luck and keep us posted, pictures are always welcome.

I personally would not hesitate to purchase this truck with those miles, as long as it is clean and well taken care off.
