So I got a GREAT price from Greg at CPS on a disc based OEM unit. I called my installer to get a quote to put it in. He asked me what I was paying etc. He suggested this AVH-4100NEXhttp://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/NEX/AVH-4100NEX unit as a solid alternative same price range newer with more features. A few questions:

- Anyone have this in their 2012 Yukon
-Pro's Con's
-Pics of final product

any info would be great, thanks fellas!

I'm also seeing the 4100 does not have nav?

thanks

First - dont pay anyone to put it in. It will take a total of 60 minutes, and thats with standing around for at least 30 minutes. Its super easy. As far as the actual Navigation part goes - All OEMs, and in my opinion aftermarkets suck compared to a smart phone nav. If you bought it because you want a touch screen and some visual effects, then perfect. But if you got it solely for nav, youll be dissapointed. Not sure where you live either, but if there is a lot of newer constructed roads - theyll be on the phone app a LOT faster (and free) than the nav in the truck.

I cant comment directly on the Pioneer unit. They make some good stuff, and they make some cheap stuff. The OEM will look perfect in the dash, and all your controls will work without any additional modules. The Pioneer will not.

I have had OEM nav in all my trucks going back to 2006 so I am used to the limitations. the 4100 looks pretty sick with apple car play using google maps etc. but I like the OEM look tough call!

I have the 4000NEX which is the 2014 version of the 4100NEX. Had it installed for a few weeks now. I replaced an OEM Nav HU and this one is light years better!!!!! It uses Apple or Google Maps so you get constantly updated maps. They come right from your smart phone so when FiatDale says all OEM and and aftermarkets suck compared to a smart phone you don't have that limitation with the 4100. Your smart phone is your nav.

The Apple CarPlay is super nice as well. You can have Siri read you your texts as well as have her respond. Tell her to call whoever you like. All your songs and playlists are right there. I put in the VIM bypass but you have to use a USB drive to play movies on it. It has rear seat control etc.... I highly recommend going with the 4100.

Here are some pictures of it installed. Ignore the wires hanging out of my glovebox. All of that has been cleaned up now. I followed in VThokies foot steps and replaced the cigarette lighter with a dual usb port. If you search around he has a thread on installing the 4100 in his truck.

Also I would need to install a USB in the cig lighter to play movies correct?

It should have both of those. I know it has mirrorlink for android so couldn't imagine it not having the equivalent of an apple product.
