I have been seriously thinking of doing this... Looks soooo much better than flat textured Black...

Did you sand the texture off, or did you use a filling primer or glazing putty to smooth it out?

Light sand with 180 just to rough it up, then primed, painted, cleared, baked, re-assembled.

The light sanding was enough to cover the pattern then with the primer??? Cool.

Yes sir. I'm using good stuff though, not primer from Autozone. That may differ.

Autozone does not sell autmotive paint. I would probably use Sherwin Williams primer, PPG color and Sherwin Williams CLear (do not ask, long story)
