As the title says, picked up an 02 Escalade yesterday. Black with tan interior. It is the 5.3 RWD, which I prefer, as I don't really need the 6.0 (although who doesn't love extra power). The body is in great shape, but the interior is filthy. Few minor blemishes to take care of, but all in all seems like a good truck so far.

The previous owner recently did all brakes and wheel bearings, water pump and belt. Has flow master on it, which sounds good, but I may try to go back to stock as I don't need the extra attention.

Really, picked it up for thee misses. We needed something else with Rear AC, and she really doesn't like the 2000 limited at all. Once I get this cleaned up, should fit the bill and hopefully she will enjoy it.

Pics to come later.

Thanks,

matt

Nice!

I bought a similar rig a few months ago. It's also an 02 Escalade with the 5.3. It's more than enough power and I get fairly good gas mileage (around 17). You'll notice a big difference when you get that interior cleaned. Mine detailed almost back to a new truck.

I'll be looking forward to your pictures and your plans.

FYI: Our year truck have the drain plug in the rear diff so a gear oil change is empty. I replaced my washer reservoir but it turns out bad lines were the culprit...it was a pain. Transmission fluid change was super simple with a special hose at the radiator. Compared to some other cars, these are simple.

Matt,

Thanks for the info. Good to hear the interior details back to a good condition. That was the biggest downfall of the truck, the interior really is filthy. I'm not to worried about putting in the elbow grease to clean it up. And the exterior needs a good polish too.

Plans are to clean it up and see if the wife likes driving it. 17 isn't too bad at all. The 2000 Limited gets around 16 in town and we got 19-21 on a long road trip to CA. So if I can get comparable with the Escalade that would be great.

My bride and I recently acquired an '02 Escalade as well. Same color as "mattluttrell" but with a 6.0 and AWD. We _love_ it over the '05 Escape we had previously. Didn't need the larger engine and AWD but let's just say that the deal was excellent. I need to replace a few suspension components (sway bar links & bushings and front bump stops) and do an oil change. I did have to inform the wife that she needs to keep the needle on the tach below the "2" mark or go get a second job to pay for fuel.

Time to sell the old Escalade. I've upgraded to a 2015 Tahoe 4x4 LT with fancy rims and black leather interior. Guess I can finally start paying attention to all those fancy posts from the fancy 2015 Tahoes.

I'd planned on shopping for 2007 Escalades in 3 years. I got this model 10 years earlier than expected :)

My parents went Oprah on my siblings and me with the 2015s. (This has never happened.)
