No, I have never used the spare tire on my Tahoe. And in case you're thinking about stealing it, there is a lock helping to keep it where it is. :Big Laugh:

Nope. I would only use it if I was stuck at midnight or in the wilderness and did not have an option because it's a hassle to get off.
Second, my 26s are too tall so I can't use it w/o the car leaning and messing up the tire.
I removed it from the frame and left it in the garage. Can probably save me at least a gallon of gas every tank or so.
Exactly! I took mine out too, the truck looks better without it.

I had a blow out in the mountains last year and had to change the tires in the pouring rain. what a PITA. But it all worked out okay and I got my new rims and tires right after that trip. so it worked out. but yes i have used my spare.

Anybody who sits on the side of the road changing a flat tire is lacking common sense. People drive way too bad now, combined with swaying right and left out of their lane so as to get that all important text message sent between sips of coffee. It's just too dangerous to change a flat tire now. Even at midnight on a deserted back road, I would call a wrecker and get towed in to a safe location.

But, I am older than most of you. I have seen the good, the bad and the ugly of modern day drivers. I also not long ago saw a tow truck driver lose a leg by some idiot running over him.

Never had to use one or had a flat. I do have a matching spare if I ever need it though. Couldn't imagine even limping my truck with a stock size tire lol.

Sorry, but the question was not if anyone has ever CHANGED a tire, the question was if anyone has USED a Spare Tire.

Now I for myself have no problem changing a flat tire as it is way faster then waiting for any tow truck to take care of this. Common sense would ensure that I would NOT change the tire on the side of the freeway, taking a chance of getting run over. In this case I as well would opt for the smarter and safer choice and have a tow truck or a wrecker tow me to a safe location where a spare can safely be changed.

If one is an experienced enough driver, one can figure out that a tire is starting to loose air and is getting flat way ahead of time (PRIOR to it being completely flat, as long as it of course does not blow - which should not happen if one checks the tires as well as air pressure regularly and keeps the tires in tip top shape) and can therefore safely pull over to a safe location such as a gas station or parking lot.

However, in any of these situations it is still VERY HELPFUL to have a good as well as properly inflated spare under the truck which then CAN BE USED!

Give it some time, .................

You are still young and you have MANY years of driving ahead of you. Don't feel bad or left out, you eventually will get your chance to show off your skills in changing a tire to the Mrs. :)
