its all back together except for turbo to charge pipe, started it up, most exhaust leaks fixed.
got silicone coupler thats going to look like shit cause ive got to stretch it over a vband and then tighten it back down to 3.5" pipe to seal for a couple days till other turbo gets here

Keep trucking in this direction bro-man. Sucks about the turbo but you'll be better off with that new one. Also, still thinking about going back to the 6L80? After driving the avalanche and getting in the Yukon, those 4 gears seem soooo far apart. I would have swapped in a 6 speed when I had it apart but @iamdub convinced me (through his own research), it wasn't worth the hassle required. Being as you dropped down in power, the 6 speed should hold up I'd think. They also don't seem overly complicated to rebuild. Some say it's easiest trans to refresh out there, just kind of costly compared to others. I've not personally dove into one but I did plenty of reading.
I am, but prob wait till i get done with this round of blowing money, turbo and rcv axles. before i spend another 2500 on rebuilding the 6l80 i have. and not soo much drop down in power, just going to get driven a lot easier lol

Ahhh. Easing off the go pedal. I understand now. I thought smaller turbo would be more "economical" and net you about 20 mpg:cool: but really, I did figure you'd get more than 9 or whatever. Since it's working less and all. But cubes eat fuel I suppose and you've got 427 of em workin against the Russia thing.

yea...its about the only thing thatll help, im going to try and lean out the cruising cells in the tune a little. prob only good for a 1mpg if im lucky tho. 6l80 has a taller OD and the closer gear spacing may help getting up to speed, may gain another mpg from it. the converter i have is also wayy ****** for this application a tighter one would help alot with getting up to speed - now the rpms kinda just go up to like 4500 till the speed catches up to it then rpm starts climbing again.
and rear end still seems like it takes way too much effort to spin, getting rear end all rebuilt it may roll a little easier period. if itll knock down 14-15mpg realistically id be happy

When the weather will make its mind up and I start messing with mine, I'll have some questions about the leaning out for mileage thing. I'd like to squeak 19-20 out of the avalanche. That would allow me to drive all week to work and back and only stop for gas at on Friday. Now I'm getting 4 days. I think 16-17 would be very close to the 5 day thing but I'd be rolling in on fumes. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I dislike stopping for gas. The cost sucks but stopping more than I have to sucks even more.

Current problem:
Could chop the end off the other turbo attach vband and then put silicone together. Would look just as ******, and would make other turbo a paper weight.
Or I have a 4" coupler im.going to try and get over the vband flange and tighten back down lol20220312_161243.jpg20220312_161246.jpg
