that was your used fluid?
the stuff that came out of this trans was like black.
he's getting the ULV tomorrow, dunno what color it is
Supposedly. That's what the dealer gave my wife for the sample. I've never seen fluid look that bad after 38k miles

just a little fluid transfer pump, the "dip stick" is on a plug on the passenger side towards the front. its like an aluminum male threaded cap that holds the plastic dipstick. pull all that out and pump it in. fluid wasnt that expensive like $6/qt from ford i guess, took about 13 qts

got it all filled up, sucks cause you have to also have it running to put in any more than like 9qts and needs to be up to temp (195*+) iirc. it seemed to move through all the gears good, a little clunky at first as the adaptives need time to work i guess. reverse a little hard shift , the rest seem pretty good after a little bit of driving.

I'm definitely going to locate that for next time. Yea, they fluid isn't bad unless you pay dealer price. I think it was $6-7 on rock auto. They charged me retail price for 20 quarts. 12 for flush, 8 to refill IIRC. Mine shifted a lot better after the service though, I will say that. Felt like it did when it was new. I had forgotten how smooth is was.

does yours have a cooler right in front of the trans pan? heat exchanger type - this f150 did, was pretty slick

Not that I've ever noticed. It's just hard lines going to the radiator. I'm not even sure if it has an external trans cooler or not. I forget to investigate after I think of it
