Well, I did just that. Wiggle it while I installed the upper plenum. It seemd to have seated. BUT, when I started it it still made that noise and it still sounds like its coming from that damn fuel meter body.
My concern is, when I was shopping around for them I saw two different ones. One had a new bracket and the other did not have a new bracket.
This is my other concern. Why would it need a new bracket?

My other and more major concern. Its leaking like Niagra Falls now.

I'm pissed, frustrated, aggrivated and seriously warn out.

Has anyone ever said "five times a charm". This sucks.

unknown at this time.
Where is it leaking exactly? coolant again? The kits with the brackets were just well thought in planning for doing the job because the service manual tells you to discard them because they tell you to pry and bend it out of the way to get the body off. if it runs fine leave it for now. But what was this sound you mentioned? I may have missed you mentioning it. Also did you dye the fluids yet.

Big update. Since I was so pissed off, I took a break. I called the store I bought it from and explained the situation, they in turn gave me the number of the distributor/tech line. To make a long story short, it does need a new bracket and it will not work with the factory assembly. I took out the old one from the trash and the new one from my truck and stood them side by side and noticed a difference. Its 1/16th of an inch but enough to cause a problem. Found a new bracket and I'm going to install it now.

Leaking situation. Since we did the intake manifold, it never stopped leaking. After I got it all back together this morning and started it, it leaked about 1 full cup in about 2 minutes. I can see some residue on the back of the manifold, it seems to be coming from the manifold. At least I am hoping it is coming from the manifold. Other wise, its either a freeze plug or heater hose. Any other suggestions?

Thanks sun, I appreciate your help.
I'm hoping to get this buttoned up tonight, or I may lose my job. He thinks I'm out looking for another job.

Drive over to your bosses house and idle on his clean driveway for 20 minutes.:)

You guys are too funny. I'll be heading into work late tomorrow so I can finish this up.
The funny thing is, if I went to his house and leaked all over the driveway, it would improve the look. His house is a dump, hah.

Found the leak was in the lower manifold in he back. I'm letting it sit over night for the RTV to cure and pray to the car g-ds that this is it.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed and banging my head on the wall at the same time, hah.

Goodnight

I am at a loss for words. After using the new bracket and a small shim, it still leaks. I trully believe the part is defective.
I dont even know what to say.

So when you say it still leaks, are you talking about a vacuum leak at the injector plug to the upper manifold?

At this point I would spray carb clean to get any oils/grease off, then MAF cleaner to get any residue off, then RTV the bastard to seal it.
Its a hack, but at this point it is obvious it isnt working for you.....either that or pay someone to get it done right.
