I would ride in the back while someone drives as was suggested. Have found many squeaks and rattles that way and have even ridden in a trunk or two.

What holds them in place?Check the vertical plastic moldings above both rear light clusters to ensure that they are not loose.
They snap in with a screw at the bottom underneath the top of the light cluster, if I remember correctly.What holds them in place?
They have a threaded clamp that you tightnen and holds the slot.What holds them in place?
My rattle came from the rear roof rack cross bar. Moved it forward one slot and that fixed it. Driving I was sure it came from down low and searched in vain.
