rattling noise 07 tahoe

Putting some rubber between the upper portion of these lines hasn't cured me of the noise. Didnt get any isolators down lower on the lines yet, but I'm beginning to think that these aren't causing the noise. I think it could be contact between two heat shields low on the engine block, maybe (you can see them through the front left wheel well). Still need to do more investigating...

Did you ever have any luck fixing this engine rattle? Mine comes and goes still from time to time. I took it in to the dealer and they charged me $90 and said they "readjusted condenser lines" and it resolved the noise for a month and then it came back. I've been too lazy to take it back in since then.......

Now my muffler is rattling. Not sure if its the heat shield on top which is rattling since it seems kings loose or something actually inside the muffler. I once had a '94 mustang where the heat shield on the catalytic converters would rattle all the time. I bought a huge hose clamp and wrapped it around the converter and tightened it down and the rattle went away so I figure i'll try that with the muffler/heat shield on my Yukon before I think about replacing the muffler.

Im having same problem, i found out its in 1 st gear. If you try shif into 2nd gear and take off it wont be that noise no more, but if you take of in drive or 1st gear it will make that rattling noise but it goes away when tranny shift in 2nd by it self

Not exactly. What I've found is that it's much more present with the tune in the truck, with makes me think it's pre-detonation. But, I think I still here it occasionally without the tune. It's 90% of the time with the tune, which makes me think that either the tune is too aggressive, or the added get up and go puts something in a different harmonic range that vibrates something. I don't really think it's the latter, though, 'cause it's more of a loose jingle than a vibration...

Well if is detonation / pining noise, than try using 89 or 91 octane fuel, thats only fix without retuning it, if you gonna retune, you eill have to lower your timing and more likly lost some power. So best bet is get better fouel and you will even get better gaa milage

rattle noise

i have the same noise problem...when i shaked the air filter box it was loose and made the same noise ...i guess when you accelerate it rattles the box and makes that sound.all the bolts look tight when i move it...the noise is coming from under the box...it seems to be hitting up against something that causes that sound..let me know if your having the same results

Did you guys ever figure it out? KMeloney, your description of the sound is almost exactly what mine is. I think it's a different harmonic vibration. It added a CAI to mine, and it does it. I've takend it out, and it went away, put it back in, it's back again. Everything is tight, I can't duplicate it by shaking anything by hand. I really think it's something to do with the harmonics under the hood and transfered to a line or clamp of some type.

I have a similar sound also... But only when barely accelerating at low rpm. It also more of a machine gun like knocking noise... But I think its due to bad gas!!!

I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing this issue. Did you ask your GM dealer to look at the U-Joint or the transmission?

Make sure your tranny fluid dipstick (the red one) is not rattling against the firewall. Sometime that causes it.

^ This. There's a recall for it so they shouldn't charge you anything. If it's cracked they replace it and put a neoprene "insulator" on it. If not they just put the insulator on.
