Not sure what to do. 2000 Tahoe with rear disk brakes. Replaced the LR caliper cause I thought it was one one side (maybe cause I see that side more). I noticed today that the other side gets hot also just maybe not as bad. Both wheels spin free as can be and the truck never feels labored. Gets alot hotter when pulling trailer and/or driving in the hills. Anyone have any idea? Thinking rear brake hose(s) or proportioning valve....

Could be hoses. I'd remove calipers and make sure your slide pins move freely and are not bound up. Take them out, wire brush them and all some grease

I bled both sides good when I put the LR caliper on.

Do you have shop or compressed air? I'd take a air brake bleeder crack one bleeder and suck it down one reservoir. Refill and crack another open until you go through all 4

How do you know they're getting hot? Someone seeing rotors turn red while braking? IR thermometer measurements? Have had your rotors turned before? Even if they haven't reached min thickness, your use on hills / towing will heat em up good if they got alot of miles on them. Consider fresh rotors just a thought.

You can smell the pads and see smoke sometimes. Also I have had to replace the axle seals more the likely due to the excessive heat. Anyone ever seen a proportioning valve go bad somehow?

Are the pads smoking ? One side or both ? You need to isolate the problem, one step at a time.
