It's made different. I have a new ujoint just installed and wasted money. The caps fit great on the driveshaft part but the caps are too small for the yoke endSo if I understand correctly, as you tighten down the straps, there's still too much play to hold the u-joint? Are the u-joints new?
What vehicle did the rear axle come out of?
I would think that new straps will solve this.

I see the newer years 2010+ use the joints where the clips go in the outside and mine are made to go on the inside.Sounds like he needs the conversion u-joint
