I think it is complete BS that an automaker can pull this crap. I paid ~55K for a vehicle with xyz features, I expect that company to provide a warranty on said features during the warranty period.

They shouldn't be able to "shut-off" or deactivate features they can "no longer support". What happens if they can "no longer support" our transmissions? Will they remove them too? (going to extremes to try to make my point)

For many, this feature is useless and the $100 is welcome. However, in a "buggy" or cold climate, this is a great feature.

I love the $100 "hush money" that they are sending......feels like a slap on the face to me.

Now some good news for those of you who like the feature.....

I found this in a local article. The original company went under but some of the core folks started a new company, AlphaTherm, and are apparently building replacement units (for a cost) for affected customers:

Here's the article I where I found the new company:

I have done ZERO research on the above product myself. However, it looks like it may be a viable solution.

So in January of 2009 I took mine in for a new:

Heated Washer Module $422.93
Block $303.00
BCM warranty
Labor $222.5
discount -94.84
Tax $43.53
Total $897.12

The dealer told me at the time (b/c I was PISSED) that if there was a recall, I could get my money back??

So can I get the $897 + $100??? If so=JACKPOT!!

I hope so, i still have not recieved my letter??

Any ideas???

Cat, I have my letter right here- it says if you have any questions about the recall, there is a toll free number: 1-800-833-2438, or you can go to gmownercenter.com. Just have your VIN number when you call in and they should be able to hook you up with some info. They are providing reimbursement, and they should send you a form to take care of it. Also says it may still have to go to the dealership for them to make sure everything was done properly. Hope this helps!

Thanks! I recieved my letter today and there was a reimbursement form in the envelope.

It is filled out and in the mailbox!

Fingers are crossed but should be a no brainer.
