Another great thread guys! I used a heat gun with fishing line, then scraped with a razor, finished with sticker residue remover, and it looks pretty good. I still have a little residue after three applications of the residue remover, so I may try some 0000 steel wool for that last little bit, or perhaps some goo-gone. No scratches, though, so I'm happy. Nice little touch to smooth out the back end!

i removed mine today. fishing string and then used a pinstripe eraser to get the rest of the glue off. all is well and looking good! then i got carried away and took my rear bow tie off. oops...i didn't realize that there are two holes behind it. oh well, i ordered some billet ones off eBay tonight and plan on getting them painted to match my truck.

What purpose does that gizzmo serve? It looks like a blob slapped on the glass for no reason. Got to admit the window would look better without it. Hey, GM, would any of you "wizards" like to chime in? :evillol:

I think it's there so you "know" where to close the hatch window due to that being the strongest point to put pressure dor closure and the women pupose, so you don't put finger prints on the window when you close it

Glad I asked this question. Got a great response and now I have a plan to take off that useless handle this weekend.

Thanks everyone.

Great topic! Just removed mine, too! :)

It appears GM accepted another "lowest bidder" when it came time to purchase whatever that adhesive crap is that held that gizzmo in place. Geez, that's some strange stuff.

The vehicle look cleaner, and I'm positive about that. :)

I have opened that rear window just one time, and that was when I was reading the owner's manual. My preference would be for the rear window to NOT be able to be opened, as it would be one less thing to have to worry about leaking or just quit working. Why do I have the feeling that it is possible for the rear window to get stuck in the open position during a rainstorm while driving down the highway 100 miles from home and water flooding into the interior of the vehicle?
