So I’ve had some minor electrical issues the past couple months with the truck. Nothing major just hadn’t had the time to figure it all out. My headlights acted kinda funny last month when I was staying at the ranch, and went to leave for the gym the one evening, auto headlights weren’t engaging and I had to mess with them a bunch to get them to come on. But it seemed like a fluke as they acted normally after that one time. Then last weekend when I pulled the trailer up the mountain for my mom, just before dark my headlights kicked off all by themselves near the base of the mountain randomly while I was driving. I had to fiddle with the switch a few times to get them to come back on. A separate electrical issue got me to pull out my tech 2 and see what’s going on. Pulled all the stored chassis codes and saw some codes related to the headlight circuit and the dimmer switch. I was kinda thinking my headlight control switch might be going bad so I picked one up from Napa yesterday, and swapped it out real quick. No headlight issues so far. Old switch out and the new one put in:

Separate electrical issue being that the last few days my gauge cluster kept flashing the “service stability system” warning. Yesterday it did it at every startup and a few times through my drives. When I looked a the chassis codes the top code was C0186- yaw rate/lateral accelerometer sensor. I’m like I’ve never even heard of that, where is that?!?! So I typed in those two words in the search bar and found @ivin74 ’s thread on the exact issue I was having: https://www.tahoeyukonforum.com/threads/yaw-rate-sensor-05-yukon-denali.113366/#post-1360801
Last year when my truck was in dealing with all the oil leak stuff, the final time it was in, a mouse somehow managed to get into my truck and chewed through wires under the front passenger seat. It tripped my airbag light last year. So I cleaned up and repaired the wires and fixed that issue. Well that yaw rate sensor is right there also tied into those same wires. So after reading through the thread I suspected there might be another damaged wire. Unbolted the seat this morning sure enough the third yellow wire was damaged, also Ivin’s thread indicated that if the sensor had to be replaced, there’s an updated part number as GM updated the sensor at some point from the factory sensor. Sure enough the part number on the sensor under my seat showed the updated part number so it’s been replaced at some point. Kind of a relief given that that sensor runs about 300 bucks!! My sensor is probably good to go. Repaired the wire and put the seat back together. Seat functions as it should and when I started the truck up there was no service stability system warning. Will keep an eye on that the next few days to see if it comes up but I think I solved the issue.

the last two times I had tires rotated, neither guy reprogrammed my TPMS to the correct locations. Trying make sure my tires all have the right amount of air has been a pain in the ass beucase the read outs aren’t showing for the right locations. Ordered the relearn tool from Amazon, it was like 16 bucks I think. It showed up last night so before I unbolted the seat I put the truck into TPMS relearn mode and used the tool to reprogram each one, and then added a little air to each tires so that each sensor picked up readings. Simple process. I like having the tool for it so that’ll stay in the glove box and anytime I get a tire rotation I can now relearn each sensor.

It’s nice to tidy up loose ends, especially electrical stuff. Nice work Chase.:happy107:
For sure! I’m hoping my new alternator addresses my flaky electrical gremlins I’ve had a bit of. Very inconsistent, and nothing severe, just overall cluster weirdness and way back, I did have the truck shut off while driving 2x. That hasn’t happened though, since I cleaned up some grounds.

There’s nothing harder to fix than intermittent electrical issues. Good luck Sam.

Sux the new switch doesn't have the green/amber lights in it.
