Replacing fuel injector spider assembly and need help

. I have a 1996 Chevy Tahoe that needs a new fuel injection spider assembly. I ordered they new improved part. Does anyone have any advice on how to best do it? I'm also going to replace the spark plugs and change the oil. What plugs work best in the Vortec engine, and what weight oil in a 150k mile motor?

I'm going to pull the cats off and pull the stock muffler off. Will I get a SES light taking the cats off a 96 model?

if none modify ignition system delco 41-993 or autolite xp605 gapped at .060. 5w-30. i use 5w30 mobil synthetic at 250k miles right now. yes you will have lights and have performance issues as well taking off cats and muffler assembly. leave the cats there and replace them if needed.

as for the injectors just get in and do it.

Is there any way to tell if u have the CSFI or MPFI without removing the upper intake mani..? I'd hate to buy the new MPFI then find out my truck already has it when I go 2 install it...

one way you might be able to see is take off the throttle body and see if you can see the injector lines. If they look small then you got the CSFI still in there. The MPFI has bigger lines. Other than that i don't know.

For cleaning your upper intake use a good carb cleaner and get all the big caked on stuff off. Then run it thought your dish washer. I did with mine and got it spotless

Remove the injection body connector and take pic of the terminAls on the injection body. Let me know if you see circular holes between the injector terminals or t shaped holes. Maybe less of a hassle the taking of tb since you have Kn fipk on.

skyhigh, when i did my spider i just took the plenum off. i never took the whole manifold out either way works i suppose but you can do it with just taking the plenum off fyi, oh and youre gonna have a goddamn blast working around the big wiring harnesses that run right over top of the plenum. thank gm for that awesome design. also ac delco plugs only if youre doing them and you should do the wires too while youre at it.

I would just get a new one. don't know what kind of gremlins might come with a junk yard one.
