I needed to remove some fuel since it had 5/8 of a tank and didn’t really want to taste the gas so I bought one of those drill-powered pump things and hooked a garden hose on it. The first one worked for the first 2 gallon can and then the threads stripped so I got it replaced and that one worked for 4 gallons before it got hot and quit working. I found 2 small rubber pieces in the gas can so I pulled it apart and found 3 more inside the pump and saw 5 total had torn off so I know I didn’t get any pieces in my daughters gas tank where I was dumping the gas. This pump is not recommended. I siphoned the rest of the gas from my tank. Yummy.

I saw my father do that once--nasty. Spitting gas out. I have a hose that self pumps, you just need to get it started.Nobody ever taught you how to siphon without getting it in your mouth?! Lol

I threw the paper away, but you put one end of the hose in the liquid and you need to shake the end with the marble back and forth until you have some suction going. I've never used it personally, but they guy who gave it to me swears it works. Idk.@Tonyrodz how does that fitting work? I see no suction device....and yes I know the pump says don't use for flammable liquids but show me a pump that says it's OK unless it's an actual fuel pump. I never got good at siphoning even when I was a kid, I always get some in my mouth but usually just a few drops. I did loop the hose down @HiHoeSilver ..I think lol. I was getting kinda buzzed by then. Anyway I got the tank out. The fittings for the vapor canister and fuel lines at the tank were the hardest part to get off. I did break one of the tank strap nut holder things whatever they're called just like you said Nate but other than that I'm OK. I had no rust other than a tiny bit on the lock ring. The tank looks clean inside, only thing was I did find a piece of black plastic that I can't figure where it came from. The pump and new lock ring will be here tomorrow so that's all for today.
