@Tonyrodz how does that fitting work? I see no suction device....and yes I know the pump says don't use for flammable liquids but show me a pump that says it's OK unless it's an actual fuel pump. I never got good at siphoning even when I was a kid, I always get some in my mouth but usually just a few drops. I did loop the hose down @HiHoeSilver ..I think lol. I was getting kinda buzzed by then. o_OAnyway I got the tank out. The fittings for the vapor canister and fuel lines at the tank were the hardest part to get off. I did break one of the tank strap nut holder things whatever they're called just like you said Nate but other than that I'm OK. I had no rust other than a tiny bit on the lock ring. The tank looks clean inside, only thing was I did find a piece of black plastic that I can't figure where it came from. The pump and new lock ring will be here tomorrow so that's all for today.

I threw the paper away, but you put one end of the hose in the liquid and you need to shake the end with the marble back and forth until you have some suction going. I've never used it personally, but they guy who gave it to me swears it works. Idk.View attachment 200932
EDIT: Poor GN.

I use this, just extend the straight pipe... works every time...gas, water, kerosene... whatever View attachment 200933View attachment 200934

You guys and your fancy tools. I have siphoned to many things to count with just a hose and cannot recall ever getting any liquid in my mouth. Lol

I got the fuel pump today but my company let me down on the lock ring. I'll have to give Bezos a call and ask him WTF. It's scheduled for tomorrow now. Anyway, the new pump came with a new wiring harness that I had to install on the truck so I did that. Then I decided just for the hell of it to paint the old lock ring with 4 coats of Hammerite Rust Cap after wire brushing the hell out of it. Of course it won't be dry until tomorrow anyway. Should have done it yesterday but Jeff never called to say the ring was going to be late. GM made a couple changes on my pump; the strainer is now internal and there's only 2 guide rods for some reason. Plus the electrical connector. Also it looks taller and I did notice when I put it in the tank I have to push down a bit more.

Yes it's plastic, as is the original. It's an AC Delco OE pump. Was yours metal?
