That’s good time man doing it all in one weekend. It took me every weekend for a month. But it was in the middle of summer so I had to quit working when it got too hot outside around 2pm. Summer is 100+ where I am

Hi OP, I appreciate your post of your DOD delete. Hows the idle quality and low end torque with the L96 cam? I’m planning on a DOD delete for my 2007 Yukon XL 5.3 w/flex fuel and saw reference to that cam for keeping VVT and maybe for a slight performance increase. Also did you get your heads worked and/or upgrade the valve springs. Same with timing gear & chain. With 180k miles I’m thinking of doing that as well while they are off. It seems like these engines last forever other that the DOD components so I don’t want to over do things if not necessary.
Hello and thank you. Sorry I've been away so havent been on the forum lmuch.
Idle is fine and I've had no issues since install. I didnt do anything to valve springs and only cleaned the head where old gasket sat and a general clean.
I would strongly recommend dropping the oil pan to clean it out and put a girdle on the oil pickup pipe and new seal . That pickup pipe seal is a weak spot according to many sources ( not just this forum) i think that I put a link up about a girdle in an earlier post.

Yes I could have put in a chuck Norris cam or something similary cheeky in but that's more stress on other parts ....and more cost with to get more power etc. It's not a race car and the fuel prices were frightening enough.

I wanted reliability and it's about to hit 300km and on flat highway its 12l/100km or 19 ish mpg at 120 kmph (75mph) .
Other parts are failing now ( running gear ) so it back to the tools now it's no longer freezing

268K miles on my 2010 with the AFM active and I even programmed it with my HP tuners to run as a 4cyl more changing the parameters and increasing the power in 4cyl mode and also change the shifting to higher speed per gear to run as a 4cyl more. Use Mobil 1 5-30 oil and it doesn't even need oil added between changes it might use 1/2 quart by the time the DIC says 25% life left, which is usually when I change it.
This gives me hope. I have 150K miles on my 2016 with AFM still enabled. Use 0w20 Mobil 1 and sometimes 0w20 AC Delco [if the dealer changes it] when I am out of town.

How often do you change the oil and filter? More often than 'recommended' keeps the oil cleaner.
Do you use a larger-bodied filter? Extra filtration also helps.

Every 5K miles if not before. Oil is still full and has the normal medium amber look. I do both highway and gridlock driving.

Been using AC Delco Filters [buy a lot at a time from the dealer] from the get-go. Have got AC Delco Filters made in China [and some other countries] at some auto stores. AutoZone in East Rutherford New Jersey was one of them. Didn't notice it until I was out of the area so just threw it out. You have to double check everything you buy at those New Jersey Auto Stores. I just feel more comfortable getting the AC Delco Filters at the dealer. But that is just me.

I've been using Walmart or Costco synthetic oil and started using napa platinum filters. Oil is cheaper and meets specifications and filter is wix but cheaper somehow. At least then I know it's decent stuff on my truck

I had 160911 miles on my LH6 when the #1 intake lifter died... Well it didnt die, it exploded! Luckily it was caught with about 25 miles of driving on the bad lifter, and didnt wipe the cam, but did bend the pushrod. I just replaced the lifter and pushrod with a new DOD lifter and pushrod, and had it tuned out.
