Software update that must be performed at a dealership

I still don't understand why people pay for OnStar. It doesn't do much more then a cell phone and often doesn't work. Don't have it on my 2023 Burbank but think I will wait to have the update done.

For what it’s worth, I asked my dealer if they had any reported issues with any vehicles that got this update at their facility. They said no. Service advisor said that they had flashed hundreds of vehicles without any issues. So that’s why I decided to risk it for the biscuit. Came out just fine on the other end. Everything works.

My trusted longtime service advisor at a very large GMC dealership told me they have done well over a thousand vehicles for this latest update and have only had two bricked vehicles which were back on the road and fixed the next day. He advises all his customers to leave the car overnight "just in case" something happens.

I think this thread is a classic example of "no news is good news". I'm pretty sure 99.9% of these get done without a hitch. But nobody is going to go out of there to way make a thread or post that a software flash was done correctly. That's already the expectation. It's those who end up having problems that'll share their story.
