Well they did not make this an easily serviceable transmission.. gotta remove the mid pipe tomorrow.. damn it.

did the brake fluid tonight, it was dark green! Also did the rear diff. that wasn't too bad. no real shavings, all the teeth seemed to be intact.

When i used to do my '01 it was a pia to get out but it came down without removing exhaust, the only thong i remember being a ***** was the trans shift cable and bracket, if I remember right. I think i bent it a little and then bent it back to shape after i bolted bracket back on....maybe they changed something tho....

When I got my 03 Yukon, I had to change both shift solenoids in the transmission. I didn't have to remove the exhaust for that. I did unbolt the shift linkage though. After that the pan came off, just needed to come off at an angle.

Oh, and speaking of the shift solenoids, they are around $10 each. Might be worth throwing in a new pair if you are dropping the pan anyway.

Just like galante i bent the shift cable bracket down a little so i could slide the pan out. I tried to get the bracket bolts out but they`re torx bolts and you can`t see them. I couldn`t get them to move so i bent the bracket and never bent it back because the bend did not affect the way it shifts.

Right on guys. I tried bending a little, didn't seem like it wanted to move. maybe I'll set my purse down and try that again. those exhaust bolts look like a pain!

How about try from the other end of the exhaust, is there a way to lower the hangers a little to give you clearance?
