I used to dump old oil, refill with all atf, run it for 15-20 minutes, dump it, fill it with atf again run it for another 10-15, dump it and refill with oil.
Of course changing filter each time...
Damn! Why so many times Pete? Were you having issues with sludge?

Don't know about the zinc additives. My recollection says that is for old flat tappet cams, not rollers. I'll let others chime in to confirm. Surely there's a variety of procedures out there on the range of LS-based forums.
I've been reading up on cam swaps since I'm about to do one and my cam grinder (Vinci High Performance) says the roller cams in LS engines dont need a break-in procedure, just apply plenty of your normal oil to the cam when installing it. Here's a quote from their tech articles: "When dealing with roller camshafts and roller lifters, special break-in oil is unnecessary since no break-in is required. The same applies to roller rockers. On non-catalytic converter applications, use petroleum based SE, SF, SG grade, oil. On catalytic converter applications, use a premium, petroleum based oil, with a viscosity rating of not less than 10w 40. An API rating of SL or SM is required. Be sure to fill the new oil filter with oil before installing it. "
