Stuck in tow/Haul, what can i do?

While drive home the other day the car decided to shift into tow/haul mode be itself. I tried everything from pressing the button a dozen time, turning the car off and on. and even disconnecting the battery.
I opened up the the steering wheel column shroud as best as i could. a found this (click images below) 2 white wires in a single orange casing were cut. I think they came out of the tow/Haul switch, in the right lever?
Q. Is there a proper way to connect the two white wires? I want to solder them with few centimeters of extension, but which 2 join to which 2? or is any way Ok?
Help us out here. this tow/Haul down the local streets is annoying.

Solider them back together, shouldn't make any difference as to what order.

I hope that fixes the tow haul problem.
Why does GM not add a few more cm's of wire, I would make it easier for all of us ???

because that would make sense. and the big 3 have no idea what that means or if trhey did they wouldfind a way to charge you for it.
