The Positive is that its probably worth more than the Tahoe (like you said). My opinion is that, ya they seem like a beastly car (550hp, 550ft-lb) but I've driven the CTS-Vs and wasn't impressed at all. It seems odd to me that they had such great reviews which would also be a plus but I feel that it rode kinda slow. I hope that makes sense. haha. It just seemed like the acceleration and power wasn't equal to the specs of the car. Keep in mind i've driven a lot of high performance cars. I personally wouldn't trade my Tahoe for a CTS-V except for the value standpoint. Put it this way, If they were worth the same, would you trade your SUV for a Car?

For the record...Your Tahoe is sick!

Hmmm... I could have sworn there was no V model for 2008. 2007 was the last year of the first gen CTS/CTS-V; 2008 was the first yr of the 2nd gen CTS (only available with 6 cylinder), then 2009 is when the 2nd gen V-series CTS debuted with the s/c'ed LSA engine.

Its an 09 it was my typo but didnt feel like fixing it and yes you u are right they didnt make a cts-v in 08 and 09 is when they started making um with the 556 hp supercharged i believe i think the first gen ones where only 400 hp

I have driven fast cars but never owned one I ride street bikes and to me they are fast and some cars just can't compare.. but when i drive this cts-v it hauls to me but i can see where you are coming from since you've been around them more than me...but you do have a point if they were worth the same I wouldn't trade my tahoe for it i love that thing to much

Also keep in mind (someone correct me if Im wrong) I think SUVs keep a higher resale value than cars. Ya the CTS-V may be worth quite a bit more now, but what about 2yrs from now? When Cadillac came out with the first CTS-V (2007?), it was the "new thing." Not gonna lie, ya i went and test drove one. If I remember correctly they priced out in like the high 40's? Shoot 3 years later I can pick one up at an auction for around 15grand. Im not trying to knock the CTS-V at all. Its a great car, as well as a great looking car. I personally wouldn't trade my Tahoe for one. Park both cars next to eachother, then decide. You tell me which one turns the most heads. :)

you are right my tahoe would turn way more heads than the v. alot of people look at the cts-v as just a regular cts nothing special unless they know what they are looking at my tahoe on the other hand gets alot of looks

Trading your Tahoe for a CTS-V would be a fail unless you are going to trade it right away for a Denali or an Escalade. I drove a CTS-V and a STS-V when they came out and was in love with the STS but could not get over the old person image of owning a Caddy. So I went and bought a Buick (retard) Enclave and went thru 2 lemons before finding my Denali.

I see what your saying caddy's have that old man image but I feel like that is dying out unless you are driving a DTS and all but Buick is like 10 times more old man to me than caddy's will ever be

I hear ya on not being able to make up your mind on two dift vehicles. I've gone Silverado, Yukon, Silverado, and now Tahoe in the last 6yrs...... I live in CT so w/ the New England weather it's gotta be 4wheel or AWD for me. Your Tahoe is sick looking so I say stick w/ that. Although you can't get the neck snapping power like you can w/ a V you can do some mods and tune that thing to give you plenty of power! Then again this is an SUV forum so I'm guessing most of our opinions are a bit biased ha! Either way they're both nasty rides! Keep us posted

I owned an 05 CTS V (first gen actually started in 2004). The resale value will surprise you in a real bad way. Plan on around 30% the first year, dropping to about half within 3 years. Mine had a crappy rear end, interior panels came off, bad alignment from factory, a 3 year old NAV disc, etc. A mechanic told me that they can tell how many times I hit redline. Tires lasted 15k (which was good).

Ok the 09 CTS V is different. I think they fixed the rear end Performance is fantastic (straight line or cornering), interior is somewhat small (just my opinion), gas mileage is SUV like. Tires are expensive. Quality is a ? since it is brand new.

It all comes down to what you want, although I would remember that you can get a new V for almost invoice these days. SUVs do tend to hold their value better as I got $17k for my Envoy that I bought for $34k 4 years earlier. $17k for 4 years/50k is real good these days.

Good luck with the decision but don't be fooled into thinking the V is "unique or special" and demands special pricing. In the end it is still a Caddy. If I was looking at the V I would look at the new E550 Mercedes and take delivery in Germany.
