Has anyone done this or have access to the repair manual?

I’m almost done and and the old one was trashed, all the “plastic” was gone and there was no “pin”.

The new one has a “pin” pictured below, I’m trying to figure out if it stays or is supposed to be removed.

Anyone with knowledge please let me know.

Much appreciated!!

Remove the pin. It holds the plastic piece for install. When you get everything set, remove the pin and that white plastic piece will rebound and press against the chain.

Exactly. I just swapped my cam and had to install a paper clip in that hole after compressing the tensioner so I could get the chain over the timing gears. Then once the chain was on and lined up, I removed the paper clip. It’s like releasing the tension on your serpentine belt by rotating the tensioner so you can slip the belt on.
