It could be a myriad of things, including how the shift program is written.
My 06 tahoe shifts decent, with good positive shifts for every gear.
My 06 Silverado 2 through 4 are exactly the same as the Tahoe, but the 1-2 at part throttle hangs between shifts. Like a good half to 3/4 of a second between gears at anything less than 50% throttle. WOT its fast and crisp shift.
Old trans did the same thing for 300k this trans with less the 3k on it is the same way. Idk about the original, but it was replaced at 91k with the one I had to replace. Father in law insists it's always done it, and hes owned it since the clock read 1,200 miles.
Both the hoe and silvy are 5.3/60e 3.42 vehicles. Only difference is the truck is an L33 vs the SUV L59
