Anyone figure this out yet?

There’s two things to address. An additional USB cable(s) and a different wiring connector for the video input module (I’m working on a pigtail instead of having to re-pin with a new connector).

Working on sourcing the usb cables... There’s an additional one with the center console harness that carries the LVDS signal from the rear video inputs (usb/hdmi), to the front of the console. It then connects with a usb cable in the I/P harness. That’s how far I’ve currently tracked it. I know the signal has to make it to the usb cable that runs up the A pillar (there’s a junction there) to the overhead screen. My guess is a usb y-cable that connects between the A-pillar, center console and DVD player (or HDMI).

I'm jumping in this way late but any reason why we cant use the new harness for this model year and continue to try to trace it back to the head unit, I cant image they made major modifications? I got ahold of a local chevy parts department and they gave me this: GM Lower Console Harness 84094824.

You certainly can. The pin outs on the x300 center console connector haven’t changed. The only thing I haven’t figured out yet is where the additional usb cable in the I/P harness (which connects to the additional usb cable in the console harness) is routed and connects.

My thinking is that it’s a usb y-cable that connects between the console harness, DVD player and usb cable that’s routed down the driver’s A pillar (from the overhead screen). Challenge is that the signal also has to make it through the HMI module as well.

Here’s the schematic for the 2017 rear audio/video inputs. The additional usb cable in the center console goes from the X3 spot on the input adapter to the x301 junction at the front of the console.

Here’s a pic of the 2017 console harness. The added usb is the blue cable.

The schematic I pulled up shows about the same thing... I couldn't access 2017 wiring yet.

The schematic I posted is the 2017 version. The graphic appears to show the older input adapter, but notice the 6 wires vs. 12 plus the additional usb connection.

I added “2017” to that section in my previous post to hopefully avoid confusion.

Hi everyone. I purchased the 2018 hdmi/hmi module on ebay hoping to fit it in my 2015 Yukon. There was a lot of talk of why it might or might not work. After trying it it definitely is not plug and play :-(. The 2018 model has a 6pin vs the 12pin on the 2015/16 module. I even tried only plugging in the 6 pins into portions of original harness plug(I also reversed just to be sure). Good news is I was able to get one of the USB’s to power using just the single usb plug the 2015 module has.

Does anyone have any ideas how I can get this working?? New harness, pigtail, etc. here’s a few pics of both the models and what I tried. Let’s figure this out!!!!

I can provide more pictures if someone has a possible solution!

This looks like it may not be possible without changing out the harness. You would need to convert a multi pin audio-video signal to a single pin HDMI. The usb could most likely be setup with a usb splitter, but I think the RCA to HDMI conversion is the real challenge. Knowing the wiring of each of those pins on the harness would be the first step to understanding.. The wiring diagrams above are a bit confusing since they aren't referencing pin locations on the old and new versions, but all on the picture of the 2015 unit.

Can you send pictures of the underside of the 2017 and 2015 board?
