Yup, I change oil pretty early on engines I put together myself (four so far this year). But there's no way I can match the cleanliness and machining precision of a modern engine factory....

Yea, I read that it isn't necessary anymore so I did it anyway. I thought I read that there was less chance of lifter failure if oil was changed more frequently. I plan on every 5K miles. That may take me 9 months. I only drive about 25 miles total Monday through Thursdays. weekends more, but not a whole lot. how about oil sitting in the engine for all those month? Maybe I should do every 6 months regardless.
First oil change is supposed to occur about 7k or 8k miles. But some guys like to do it early, just because.

I do every 4500-5000k miles which works out to about every 6 months for our driving. The computer always shows about 50-60% oil life remaining.

Just got her, so far only thing I've done is order blacked out hub caps, and start planning the tint.
Absolutely dwarfs my buddy's old Explorer.
Also props to anyone who can name what color this is (Its not Midnight Blue Metallic.)

Dark Ash, right? I've got the same but a Z71. Love that color and rarely see it.

Just had my new Ultimate in for Ceramic coat and couldn't be happier, the black is so deep now and the gloss is amazing. I was surprised at how bad the dealer prep was but the paint correction removed all the little flaws in the paint. When I first looked at the picture I had taken I thought something was wrong with the picture until I realized that the high gloss shine was so good it was the grass and the little bit of snow reflecting of the side panels.

Blackstone Labs tells me oil doesn't go bad just sitting there in the pan. It's the short runs that don't give the engine time to fully warm up that compromise the oil.

Looks awesome...now the fun begins...keeping that thing clean as it is right now (I love how black cars look for the first 10 seconds; I can't have one, because my OCD can't stand how every single little piece of lint, dust, etc shows).

Ive been up to that daily for the past 10 days...14 days ago, we had no snow on the ground, we now have about 15", via several 1-3" snowfalls almost daily. Blizzaks for the win; this beast is very surefooted in these weather conditions. For the next few days, I am staying put, its -13F and falling here, and winds are up to sustained 20MPH, headed to 35-40MPH overnight and into late Friday.
