Today was all about lighting.
  • Installed new 4300k HID low beams and replaced the aged 35W ballasts with a new pair of 55W.
  • Replaced the peeled amber bulbs in my front running/turn lights with natural amber bulbs after I blew all the flakes out of the housings
  • Replaced the 8 mini-bulbs in the steering wheel controls
  • Replaced the 11 mini-bulbs in the heating control unit
  • Replaced the mini-bulbs and stepper motors in the gauge cluster
  • Reflowed the solder on the surface mount resistors to restore dim PRND321 display to full brightness
Can't wait for my next night drive when I'll be able to see what buttons I am reaching for on the dash.

Just returned home from Gatlinburg, TN (roughly 350 mile trip). I think my steering position sensor may be on the fritz. Driving up and down the mountain in Auto 4WD and at fast speeds, the steering felt solid and reliable...maybe even sporty. Trying to drive on a flat, straight road at 65 mph is damn near impossible. Switching lanes made me think the steering wheel wasn't even controlling where the wheels went.

I think it became more noticeable after the steering felt so sporty because it has been sloppy before. This is turning into a never-ending quest to fix the steering, which pretty much has everything less than a year old aside from hubs and tie rods...no play when on the lift though.

Any pics of this? Could use a good write up on this one after going dim on the PRND321. As well the steering wheel ctrl, 4wd, 2hi. Can the mini-bulbs be ordered on ebay, amazon?

Sorry, no photos. I used write ups found here and elsewhere and watched a bunch of youtube videos before tackling it. Here are some of the most useful:
All the bulbs and stepper motors were ordered from Amazon.
