Maybe for the tow/haul button.I think i asked this before to no avail... I have seen a few listed that say "for 6l80e vehicles only" or something... Is there really a difference?

I was just trying to give my best guess. Only thing I could think off that could have some affect where the transmission is concerned.So are there 2 versions? We have guys here with nnbs levers on 4l60's, right?

There's a + - button that's for manual shifting of the 6l80 that we just don't use. The plug is different since there's 2 black wires for that button plus 2 white wires for the tow/haul button, so it's a 4-wire plug. Either cut the plug off the old shifter and wire it to the white wires of the new shifter so it plugs right into the truck or wire the white wires direct with no plug. The black wires don't get used. And the + - button has a circuit in the shifter with resistors in it so the 6l80 knows if you're hitting the + or - so if you want to use that button for something else you'll have to open up the shifter and mod it.I think i asked this before to no avail...
