The stock nivomat shocks do support the weight of the truck in addition to the springs. If you replace them with regular shocks your truck will lower 2 inches and ride super soft. That is why you have to add Bilstein springs or z71 springs to get the ride height back.
Just a tidbit if anyone has premium ride and wonders why they can't haul any weight after changing rear shocks.

I agree, changed out my rear springs after removing the nivomat shocks.
