There are not inspection required in Illinois (at least in my county) so I think I'd be ok without them, but I worry that removing the cats will give me a raspier tone and make it considerably louder.

The headers alone are gonna increase engine noise from the front. If getting longtubes, there's no sense in buying a catted Y-pipe to use as mufflers. Put that cash towards having mini glasspacks welded in the Y-pipe if you wanna tone down and smooth out the sound. Or, keep the stock exhaust (manifolds are fine at this power level and will maintain low-end torque) and maybe nix the cats?

You think I could use a spray bottle with soapy water and spray that to see if I see air bubbles like a leak from a tire?
it's sucking in air how would that work unless you put water on it and see if it gets sucked in

You can use brake parts cleaner and spray it around all the hoses and intake manifold while listening for a change in the engine sound. If it gets sucked in it will make the engine rev a tiny bit since it’s combustible. Remember any leak will be sucking, not blowing.

@BG1988 @Rocket Man so I just sprayed some brake clean around the bolt holes of the intake manifold, the seal of he TB and any hose going to the IM i "think" I have a slight hesitation as I sprayed the pass rear of the manifold but I still hear that sucking sound from the driverside

Side note: @Rocket Man is taking off the driver exterior door handle a pain in the ass or is it fairly straight forward, mine rattles like crazy

It’s easy, just pull the panel. There’s (3) 10 mm nuts holding it on, one is behind a rubber plug in the jamb area, one is accessible with an extension through the metal behind the panel and one you can see through the glass if you shine a light on it. That one you need either a 10 mm wrench or shallow socket but you kind of have to reach up behind the glass and do it by feel. Then pull the handle away from the outside and unclip the rods. You might have to pull the screws from the latch for that part.

@BG1988 @Rocket Man ok guys lol. So I broke out the multimeter. I'm getting voltage from the maf and continuity with the harness so the maf and wiring is OK. I've also checked everywhere for a vacuum leak i can't find anything. That sucking sound i think is the alternators spinning. I've tried spraying with brake clean. Fogging with propane and spraying with IPA no change in rpms or idle. I think I'm going to swap air filters and clear the code to see if it comes back
