This method when you disconnect the MAF and use that as a guide for what is bad or not.

I don't understand it, can someone tell me how it's works?

In my head and my experience this will not tell if the MAF is bad just if you have something else wrong.
Shouldn't the car jump in to LIMP-mode when the MAF is disconnected and if the car works fine you have trouble somewhere else in the system?

If the MAF is bad or at least reporting erroneously, the engine won't run optimally or may run poorly. Disconnecting it will force the PCM to default to a speed-density tune to remain operational (a "limp mode" of sorts). Depending on what is wrong with the MAF, the engine may run better with it disconnected. It still wont be optimal by far. If the MAF is connected but isn't reporting anything at all, then either the MAF is just that bad or the circuit is open. This also will result in default to speed-density. Bombsquad85 unplugging his MAF made no difference, indicating that he had been operating on that default tune.

if you have an issue with the MAF sensor with a GM car it will be very hard to start or take several cranks etc you can run it without it.. it will just run at default non-optimized conditions...(open loop and run rich)

with my broken sensor..

it will randomly FULL throttle bypassing the Rev limiter straight to 6,000 RPM(this happened 3 times) I had to put it in neutral and shut off the engine..

it's technically not a true "run away " but unintended throttle "action"
Also not unintended acceleration(since it did not increase in speed)

I willing to bet it's a cracked soldering joint back in 2008 or so they were switching over from Leaded solder to lead free soldering they did not work out the bugs with the soldering mix so it was pretty common the soldering joints to crack..there was many issues with the clusters from 2007 to 2012 because of failed soldering joints.. sure this was an issue inside of "other parts" as well

Mid throttle i.e 3k rpm randomly (few times)

a light throttle 1500-2500rpm randomly several times

by it self

it's pretty clear throttle position sensors "the safety check" can be bypassed or overwritten by the MAF sensor.

If I built a powerful enough RF transmitter I could FULL throttle or stall any GM vehicle remotely..
by exploiting the MAF sensor output signal. (equipped with electronic throttles made by GM)

some one really fudged up in the software dev department :blah:

Stopped at AAP today and for no reason picked up the Meguiars headlight restoration kit. I tried it out, but it didn't do enough. So back to the store. Bought some 320, 600, 800, 1000, and 2000 grit sand papers. Did the process again and NOW i'm happy with it. Using the 320 (lightly) really cut through all the bad stuff. Then the steps to smooth it all out went pretty easy. Probably spent way too much time, but they look much much better now. Being as i'm kinda OCD i'll probably still buy some new GM lamps, but this will hold me over for a while.

Good work. Now you need to clear coat (or use clear PPF, which is even better and lasts for many years) on those lens to keep them nice and clear.
